ZenHome Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 25, 2026
The Short Version
We collect what we need to help you maintain your home and deliver great service. We use your data to improve your experience and we never sell it. A small number of service providers process data on our behalf (listed below), and when a professional is on the way to your home, that professional's live location is shared with you — and only you — from the moment they tap "On my way" until they finish the job. You can delete your data at any time.
What We Collect
This policy covers our web platform and the Zenlink mobile app. The app serves both homeowners — who can browse services, request work, record walkthroughs of their home, and track projects — and the service professionals who perform the work.
Everyone
- Name, email, and phone number
- Home address and property details
- Project records and maintenance history
- Messages with your AI assistant
- Documents you upload (inspections, warranties, etc.)
- Payment information for services — on the web platform only; the mobile app takes no payments and opens invoices in your browser
- How the app is used — screens viewed and actions taken, tied to your session, so we can find and fix what's broken. We don't use advertising identifiers and don't track you across other apps.
- Crash and error diagnostics, including a device identifier, so we can reproduce failures
Walkthroughs (homeowners and professionals)
When you record a walkthrough, you choose when to capture:
- Photos, audio, and video of the home or job site
- Voice transcriptions used to generate reports and estimates
- The property address you confirm for the recording
Service professionals: location
Location is collected from professionals only, in three deliberately different modes:
- While clocked in: periodic location points for job-site verification and route logging. Clocking in requires granting location access — both while using the app and in the background — so this cannot be declined and still start a shift.
- While en route, after you tap "On my way": continuous, navigation-grade location updates, including while the app is in the background. Your live position and ETA are shown to the customer you are driving to, on a map, until you arrive and the job starts. The app tells you exactly this on a confirmation sheet before anything is shared, and sharing stops automatically at arrival, at clock-out, and at sign-out.
- Arrival detection: a geofence around the destination detects arrival so the customer's map updates even if the app isn't open.
Homeowners are never asked for device location and the app cannot request it from a homeowner account. The home's position on any map comes from the property address on the account, not from a phone.
How We Use It
- Manage your home maintenance plans and projects
- Generate reports, estimates, and documentation from walkthroughs
- Connect homeowners with verified service professionals
- Show homeowners when their professional is on the way, live
- Process payments
- Send reminders and project updates
- Improve our services using anonymized, aggregated trends — we never use your individual data to train AI models
What Homeowners See
When a service professional documents work at your property, you may see photos and generated reports in your project dashboard. While a professional is en route to your appointment, you see their live position and ETA. Raw audio and video recordings are never shared with homeowners.
Who We Share With
We don't sell your data, and we don't share your personal information for marketing or advertising.
We use a small number of service providers to run ZenHome, and they only access what they need to do their job under data protection agreements:
- Cloud hosting and databases — where your account and project data live
- Authentication — sign-in and account security
- Payment processing — we never store full card numbers ourselves
- Crash and error reporting — crash logs and device identifiers are sent to our diagnostics provider (Sentry) so we can fix failures
- Maps and geocoding — addresses and coordinates are sent to our mapping provider (Google) to draw maps, resolve addresses, and estimate drive times
- Image text recognition — if you photograph an appliance's model plate, that photo is processed by a cloud vision service (Google) to read the label
- Messaging delivery — phone numbers and message content pass through our SMS and calling provider to reach you
- AI assistant — messages you send to the AI assistant, and the project context needed to answer them, are processed by our AI model providers to generate the reply; walkthrough audio may be transcribed by your device platform's speech service
One kind of sharing happens between people rather than with a company: when a professional taps "On my way", their live location is visible to the customer for that job until arrival. That is initiated by the professional, explained on screen at the moment of the tap, and never automatic.
Your Data, Your Control
- Access or download your data anytime from your dashboard
- Update or correct your information
- Delete your account yourself, right in the app (homeowners: Account → Delete account; professionals: Profile → Delete account) or by following the steps at zenhome.ai/delete-account
- Request deletion of specific data by contacting us
How Long We Keep It
- Account data stays while your account is active
- When you delete your account, your personal information (name, phone, email), your photos, chat messages and attachments, walkthrough media, and any pro network application are deleted immediately, and any remaining copies in backups are purged within 30 days
- Records of completed, invoiced work (project records, invoices, and payment records) are retained without your personal details, as required for financial and legal record-keeping
- Location shared during an "On my way" trip is kept as part of the job record; the live-sharing link itself expires when the job starts
Security
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use strict access controls, run regular security audits, and offer two-factor authentication. For homeowner security systems, we only store basic manufacturer and model info — never access codes or configurations.
California Privacy Rights
California residents can request their data, ask for deletion, and opt out of data sales (though we don't sell data). You can exercise these rights without discrimination.
Other Things to Know
- ZenHome is not intended for anyone under 18
- In rare emergencies (like imminent property damage), we may share minimal info with emergency services
- If ZenHome is ever sold, you'll be notified in advance, your data stays protected, and you can opt out
- If we update this policy, we'll post the new version, update the date, and email you about significant changes
